Today's the day ........................ to leave the nest

Couldn't understand what all the fuss was about as I brought the shopping in from the car. Mr and Mrs Front-Garden-Blackbird were making such a racket at the top of the steps. Then I heard a little 'cheap' and found this little chap behind a plant pot - looking a bit bewildered.

No wonder really - one minute you're in a nice safe nest, snug and warm, being waited on hand and foot by your Mum and Dad. Then the next - you're out in the cold with everything looking very strange and foreign.

This must be the most vulnerable time for young birds that can't yet fly and still need to be fed. Let's hope that Mother Nature is kind to him .................!
