Blue skies in Scotland

I spent quite some time late afternoon and evening, walking round the city of Dundee in search of Geocaches. Managed to bag 9 in all to add to our total and took quite a few photos on the way round. So much so, I had a job choosing which ones to blip. One day I will learn how to add a link to my blip so you can all see the rest of them - any suggestions Mrs C? - but until then these will have to do.

Couldn't resist the reflection of the blue sky in the windows of the marvellous old building in the top blip. I think it is an old place which has been separated into apartments, but it looks good whatever.

The second one is of the 'Wishart' Arch. This is all that is left of the original city walls of Dundee. It became a walled city in 1545 during an uneasy period of relations between Scotland and England. Nothing new there then. Dundee town council was ordered to dismantle the city walls after the battle of Culloden - didn't they lose that one? - in 1746, but the arch survived.

It's name is attributed to it's connection with the Protestant reformer George Wishart who is said to have preached from the structure, and many people healed as a result of his preaching, between 1513 and 1546. Many of you will know this as the time of The Plague.

All in all a pleasant evening with some traditional Scottish fare and then a wee pint of Scottish ale in a live music bar called Lennons, just to round the evening off nicely.

Home tomorrow.
