Tablets and Tribulations ...
... It had all been going far too well for my liking, I am always suspicious when situations and events appear to run smoothly cos here in Lelville that only means one thing. A balls up of some description is about to descend.
Last night I got a phone call to say that my dad is back in hospital (Some of you may be aware that my dad has Terminal cancer) the Cancer has spread to his Hip and Shoulder and they are trying to monitor the pain. Problem is my Dad lives/retired to Austria, and he is insisting we don't go over, which is quite hard for us as we want to be there. He is due to come to the Uk at the end of this month and says he will still be coming?
The saga with Mum continues ... As she is so stubborn Independent, she has been wanting to make her own breakfast and take her tablets in the morning. We have let her do this quite successfully ... until today! I woke up to hear her in the kitchen, I always listen to make sure she is coping ... open cupboard, take out cereal, hear her putting it the bowl, fridge open, milk out, spoon clattering SUCCESS!
Then I heard her faffing with the tablets (We put them into a weekly dosset box to make it easier for her) ... after a couple of minutes I could still hear her so just as I got up she calls to me ... "I think I have done my tablets wrong!" went into the kitchen to find she had put 5 DAYS of tablets into her pot! Luckily she had the foresight not to take them. That just threw her completely and then couldn't remember how to get dressed or what to wear.
Next stop the bathroom, she comes out crying, her toothbrush was missing! (Shaki had moved it to where we keep all the toothbrushes) even though it was literally 3 inches from where she had put it, it was enough to confuse her!
Finally got her to the Docs in one piece, after discussing various things, Mum piped up that she didn't want to go for a head scan next week as she didn't want them sticking needles in her head?!?! Took me and the Doc ten minutes to reassure her that it was just a type of X-ray and no-one was going to turn her into eraserhead! I should have laughed at this point but I just burst into tears.
It must be awful to live in such a confused state, it is horrible to see her looking scared and confused and for simple things to totally throw her off kilter. Since the event of a few weeks ago I have watched my mum turn into a different person. She is almost like a child in some ways. This shouldn't happen to anyone. Most of the time she seems happy, but then days like today bring it all back. Life is very fragile and we should really make the most of every day that we have.
Missed a parcel delivery as well so went to pick it up from the delivery depot which is 5 min walk away ... yep it piddled down as i walked back. Thunder Lightning and torrential rain. Walked into the house for my mum to say ... have you seen the rain out there! .. yes Mum I have, that's why I'm dripping water all over the hall ;-)
On the up side ... (There is always an up side if you look hard enough) Sonbon my friend who also is terminally ill, is feeling like a night out, so we are going to go and have a small ... make that a double, Vodka tonight. Shaki is mother sitting so I can have a couple of hours out. A chance to catch up with friends and chill ;-) xx
In Lelville today:
ALL of the above - Rant over ;-) xx
