Steel Rigg
We had more snow overnight, but not enough to deter us from a little drive out to Hadrian's Wall. As it happens, there was a lot less snow at our destination, so we were fine. We parked at Steel Rigg car park and took a short walk alongside the wall (or what's left of it!). This shot shows part of the 'Whin Sill' geological formation, which provided an excellent natural barrier when the Roman Army were building their defences. Much of the wall here follows the path of the sill.
If you're interested, I also took a shot of Hubby climbing this sill en route to taking his blip for today. See if you can spot him at the very top, walking towards the stile! He was able to go on a little further than I did, as I had Grace with me in the carrier and it was more than a little slippery underfoot. There was no way I was going to attempt that climb with a seven month-old baby strapped to my chest! However, it did make me excited to think of all the wonderful family days we have ahead of us.
