The farmer's wife

This is Mrs B, "Farmer B's wife. They are long-time friends of our family and will be celebrating their 60th anniversary in the fall.

Mrs. B is also turning 80 in a few months and is still the pistol she always was: tough, full of energy, still working the land, and giggles always at the ready.

We had a nice, long visit with them this afternoon and they had us tour the house they recently moved in, complete with indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a sunken bathtub in their suite the likes of which I've never seen before, and a cotery of dogs -- small and big all over the place.

They did mention the ghost of the former owner ("Mrs P, a tough old bird"), who regularly makes appearances. They seemed quite non-plussed about it, as they did with the mention of the resident 10-foot long black snake ("but we've not had a single mouse in the house...").

Farming... the American way. :)
