Practicing my wait...
I am sooo excited I have had the BEST evening. I started my new obedience/agility class tonight and it was FAB!
There are only 3 of us in the class and I am the only girl ;-) There is Cookie the Cocker Spaniel (who looks just like my lovely friend Stanley). He is 1 and a little bit mad! and then there is Chico the Collie who is 7. He is MUCH older than me but still as mad :-)
We have learnt a few things tonight but we have LOADS of homework to do EVERYDAY. We did lots of work on my wait. I was being very good for a while but then decided I would bound off and try and meet everyone and not go back to mum. Mum and the teacher Jill were both running around trying to get me back. It was GREAT fun.
Apparently mum needs to work on my recall before we can do any proper agility work (she says tell me something I don't know!) The lady was suprised that mum works on it all the time. Apparently they are going to up my rewards when I do go back to her. That sounds good to me ;-)
We did a lot of playing with a tuggy toy and giving it up. This was working on my drive...... We put the toy on the floor at little way in front of me and when I look forward at it mum says GO and I go get it (and then run off with it and don't come back, hee hee)
We also did something called Choices. I really didn't get that one. Mum had a handfull of yummy food. When her hand was closed I had to do something to gain a treat, so when I sat she opened her hand and gave me a few treats. But when she shut her hand I just wanted to dive on her and try and chew her hand off. Apparently I am supposed to then do something else to earn it. Like lie down, roll over, yawn...ANYTHING I want, but I have to choose what I do. This is supposed to make my brain work..... I'm not sure about that one yet. Maybe homework will help.
We are also learning target training. So we have a plastic lid that when I touch the lid with my nose I get a treat. I forget that I just touch it and leave it, I like to pick it up and run off with it, hee hee.
We did some "jump bumps" Where the jump pole is lowered to the floor and I have to wait whilst mum walks around the the other side with my tug toy then when she says go I go over the jump to get my toy.
It is all very difficult. I really love it. I love learning so much. I sit very patiently and watch the others whilst they had their go. Only once did I try and fling myself after them and pull mum over in the sawdust....oooops!
Tomorrow we are buying another tuggie toy as I have broken mine now! We have also bought a new long training line for recalls and to help in the class.
Lots of homework to be done, mum has a list the teacher gave her. This is a photo of me practicing my wait tonight when I got home!
I can't wait until next week!
Bye for now

Edit, I can't believe I did it again. In my excitement over the classes I forgot to say thank you for making Daddy and I spotlight stars! We were everso everso chuffed, we really didn't think it was that good! :-)
