Tuesday: Down By The River
It was/is a beautiful day today so I took a little mooch down to the river to look at the houseboats. Would you like to know something interesting about the river in Isleworth, where I live? I'll tell you.....it is apparently where the Romans crossed the river in 55 BC on their way to what later became London (or Londinium, as they used to call it).
I had to write a condolence card this morning in German so rang my Mum for some assistance. I think that I have mentioned before that my dear Mama hails from Germany and still lives there. I grew up speaking German and am very comfortable in it, but, when it comes to things like condolence messages, I do realise my limitations! I do have a bit of a bugbear about people who say that they are fluent in a language, when they might just speak it very well. Speaking a language well, and being fluent, are two very different things. Glad I got that off my chest!
The other exciting news is that I had my hair cut. Yes, the pineapple is gone!
