Sure I can Accept that We're Going No Where...
There is something deeply, deeply wrong with me!
I bounced out of bed this morning, at 7 am sharp, jumped the shower before Beloved, and got breakkie and jumped on me Bike again.
The bike path is really a joy to behold, and my confidence in my cycling, (and the wearing of the helmet) is growing. Don't get me wrong, 4 miles to work and 4 miles home isn't easy, but on a lovely morning it is a brilliant ride!
Troon is surrounded by Golf Courses, I skirt 4 I think while on the Bike Path, maybe Five! Fullarton, Darly, Portland, Lochgreen and perhaps the Royal, although I'm not 100% certain of that.
My favourite part of the cycle is the last third, or the fourth fifth. I divide it up in my head all the time. It is split by two main roads (both of which I go under bridges), but there are sections within those thirds, hence the fifths.
This part passes golf course and train line on one side, and golf course, and beautiful big country houses, with huge gardens and woodland of their own and the occassional horse and chickens. There are flowers everywhere - wild poppies, foxgloves, daisies, and loads I don't even know what they are.
There are birds everywhere, thrush, blackbird, housemartins, sparrows, magpies, and today I seen a Bullfinch! I loose count of the rabbits, but I always remember the funny coloured ones! Someone's ginger rabbit got out into the wild, and has created some very strange cross-bred rabbies out there.
I pass maybe 5 people, both ways. There are 3 parts which have horrendous climbs, but I can do them all now with out stopping, 2 of them I can actually do without going to the highest gear.
I try to keep going and not stop, but I keep seeing things that I want to stop and have a look at. You would think I would have seen it all after several times up and down, but it changes all the time, there's always something else to see.
Tonight, just before I Left work - I was looking at the window; I can see the sky for about 8 miles in both directions. Heading in from the South was the biggest blackest cloud ever! I got a skype from the town office, saying "Hailstone alert", ARgh!!!
I ran into the loo and changed quickly, jumped on my bike, and started pedalling as fast as my little legs would go.
I looked over my shoulder as I sped round corners, watching the progress of the cloud at my back.
And I made it home.
Dry.
And in 20 minutes!!! New World record!
And. I saw a dragon, landing on the trees on the hill above the town as i approached the house! Oh yes I did.
