Dragonfly

The dragonflies are back!! The dragonflies are back!!!

I don't know where they go. I don't know if they hibernate. I don't know if they live for more than one summer. Maybe I should do more research before I post a picture.

I took some tiny little brown ones. I took some medium sized black ones. But...when I have the choice between black and brown...and this brilliant blue...hmmm...let's see...I guess I'll go with the blue.

I also liked the fact that I could see the shadow. Some people and some things cast giant shadows, but this fly does not.

I can't believe that this lovely creature has to share part of its name with that disgusting little menace that buzzes our ears, and feeds off the doodoo of my dogs. Somehow that just does'nt seem fair.

When I was in Florida...I got a ravishing red dragonfly. She posed and posed for me. Around here...I always try to find some green ones. They must be rare, because I usually only see them 2 or 3 days in the summer.

Overcast and sprinkling all day. I was lucky to get the shadow shot. Garage sale day a washout. Too bad...I was going to rummage through the sales for a new camera. Ha.
