George(?) the Ghillie

Two lovely walks at Haddo and back at the Ythan Estuary, at Newburgh, opposite side from yesterday. More terns, seals, eiders - including very cute babies today! Might put some more shots on the same place as yesterday, when I get round to it!

This is the ghillie who was out with a chap fishing. I think his name is George. He wasn't very chatty, but the other guy was. Apparently the estuary is in very good shape - the sand eels are plentiful so the sea trout are plentiful (they had some beautiful specimens!) so the seals (grey and common) are plentiful. And the terns and eiders are obviously pretty happy too! They got one fish on the hook today, then a rather large bull common seal grabbed it, was thrashing it around - they feared for their rods, and their boat! Chased it with the outboard on full speed, and had to cut the line. They also have an ultrasonic seal scarer - clearly didn't work with that one! A dog also got in some bother with a bull seal last week, I think - went in too far, and ended up with some very nasty bites!

Along with a shot of a guy cleaning the fountain at Haddo, this is one of my first attempts at shots of random people doing their thing. I'm not much good with shooting people (!) so feedback very welcome!
