RA36
One of the construction vehicles used on the Channel Tunnel, now living at the National Railway Museum in York. It's preserved in the condition it was last used, very obviously a working vehicle.
It pleases me things like this are preserved. RA36 and it's kind were made for one particular purpose, worked hard for quite a long time while the tunnel was constructed and then scrapped. In and of itself RA36 isn't really all that interesting I suppose, but the building of a tunnel between Britain and mainland Europe was significant and keeping some of the technology used is worthwhile.
This is, of course, why places like the NRM exist. Personally I find things like this more interesting that a lot of the steam engines. They're all romantic and lovely I'm sure, but the more recent technology is also really interesting.
