The Edge of the Wold

It's only a month since I blipped one of the first house sparrow brood a day or two before he and his siblings flew the nestbox. And here is the hungry gape of one of the second brood demanding more food at the entrance hole. Such a quick turnaround, you'd think the parents would be exhausted. I did report last time that the male went missing for a day, perhaps he really was just too whacked to carry on. A bit hard on Mrs Sparrow, who just had to keep going. The male was making up for it today, visiting at least twice as often as his mate.

While back at home, the roe deer is clearly now a regular visitor to the garden, though not in daylight. Wifie's pansies have all been eaten, the deer has a particular taste for flowers, as the leaves have been left untouched. While my pot of alpine strawberries has been grazed of new growth, though surprisingly the developing fruits have been left untouched.

Made it to the weekend, there were a few obstacles to get over this week, and in the end I went round the biggest one. It'll be there in front of me again on Monday though. Anyway, another week to survive then two weeks break.
