The Secret Garden

19months 29 days

We had a lovely time at home just playing together and pottering this morning, before we headed out to meet Granny and Grandad. We were going to an Open Gardens and Studios day. It was fabulous, a really great day. ONe of those where I couldnt believe how fast it went.

We walked round some incredible gardens firstly. She loved seeing the balloons that marked out the houses on the trail. Then spent ages with some chickens in one house, a guinea pig in another, and budgies/other small birds in a third. She was seriously excited with the ones that had a water feature. We saw some beautiful ceramics in one studio (above Katie height!) We passed one house selling homegrown strawberries and I bought some for Katie to have with her lunch. She'd eaten the whole tub before we got as far as the van.

We stopped for a picnic, but it was and had been raining for quite a while, so we picnicked in the back of grandad's van, which Katie thought rather an adventure. After lunch we went inside a really lovely little chapel and Katie was charming the ladies there. We went to some more studios, and saw one where a lady was drawing a cat. Katie was trying her hardest to get the cat to come to her though.

The best house of them all was one that looked like a fairly minimal house that we nearly didnt go into. But it had three smaller separate hedged areas, each with waterfeatures, including fish. Two of them were separated with an arch that held this swing. Then round another corner was a HUGE area with beautiful but natural lawns, trees, so many flowers. But best of all there were chickens and budgies, two tortoises and a guinea pig sanctuary. It was a real gem tucked away.

We went out for a nice tea with granny and grandad and Katie did really well sat in the highchair colouring, drinking juice and being good despite having a fair old wait for her food. And when it came, she was very ready for it. She fell asleep on the way home so isn't in her jammies yet, she's just all tucked up in her bed! A lovely day.
