Quick snap from the garden tonight.

Free garden plants, I've had a few... other than weeds. Something started growing in the garden last year that I didn't plant, and that didn't appear to be a weed. From its leaves, it looked like some form of violet. I moved it to a better spot, put some compost as a mulch around it, and largely left it to its own devices. Later it had a single flower, and yes, it was a violet. So small and delicate, I didn't expect it to survive a winter.

This year it's gone a bit crazy, is occupying an area of about a foot in diameter, and is covered in flowers. No idea how it came to the garden in the first place, but I do rather like it - and not because it was free!
