Small Bridge for a Big Road

This romantic looking bridge is, in fact, carrying the Route Nationale 20 (RN20), a major trunk road linking Paris with Toulouse. The little, peaceful river is the Cosson.

We are just on the outskirts of the small town of La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, with Orléans just a bit to the north. La Ferté-Saint-Aubin has a fine château just on the other side of the main road, and the river appears to flow through its grounds.

In a little village nearby, Ardon, we were advised by two local men of dishevelled appearance that we could eat very well at the Restaurant des Trois Marches, and indeed they were right. Our advisors can be seen in our photograph evidently enjoying their meal.
