This is a Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress - the main bomber of the 2nd World War, used by the US Eighth Air Force in the bombing offensive against Germany between 1942-45.

The Fortress, with its 13 machine guns, carried the heaviest defensive armament of any bomber and undertook daytime, high altitude, precision bombing raids.

She still flies today and to her many admirers, she is commonly known as Sally B ............
