Fiddling with my Uher

A quality piece of equipment this, it will probably last forever - or longer.

Heavily used by radio journalists / reporters all over. Made in Germany, which explains the quality. They used 5 inch reels, had either 2 or 4 track mono reproduction, with four tape speeds. The highest speed gave excellent broadcast quality recordings whereas with the slowest it could run for 24 hours, but for low speech repro only.

Of course nowadays, you'd be hard pressed to find anybody on any radio station using one of these - they went digital ages ago. Personally, I prefer digital, but one can still hanker for a little nostalgia occasionally.
