After the storms of yesterday, we had nice sunshine most of the day. Did anyone else notice, this was the day of the greenfly. hundreds of thousands of them took to the air, floating on the breeze and ensuring that anyone as much as opening their mouth would take in several of the blighters. Against the setting sun, they can still be seen, like dust in a sunbeam.

I'm still waiting for this year's Flant Day or Flying Ant Day, which I assume could be localised depending on the weather. Apparently it is mainly the Queen Ants we notice as they take to their nuptial flight when they will mate with the much smaller male ants. When they land, their wings fall off. Here I was going to make a joke about budget airlines, but my legal department urges against the idea.
