The Falkirk Wheel

A visit to the Falkirk Wheel was on the agenda for today; the weather was quite kind (it didn't rain until we were having lunch) and it was relaxing fun to go on the boat up to the higher level. This is not the best photo ever of it, but it's what there is! It doesn't really do the wheel justice as it is a very elegant piece of engineering that does it's job very efficiently. It replaces 11 locks that had long since been out of operation and has helped open up the Forth and Clyde canal and the Union canal for enjoyment by lots of people.

We also had a stop in Culross before taking Helen and Jim to the station to get the train home.
