Old Fashioned
Alongside my rows of modern 'Spencer' type sweet peas grown as cordons I have a few wigwams of the traditional varieties. Collectively known as the 'old fashioned' types, these were very popular in Victorian times. The stems are much shorter, the colour range is more restricted and the flowers about a third of the size but they more than make up for this with their fantastically powerful scent.
