Lathyrus Odoratus

Red dead ...?

The frustrating thing about trying to teach yourself wildflowers is when thre's one that you are sure you know but the example you have in front of you doesn't match up. I'm sure this is very common, it resembles a nettle and has small purple-red coloured flowers and gives off a musky odour when you rub against the leaves or stem. I've always known it as red deadnettle but now I'm not sure. The flowers have shrivelled up on this example leaving these attractive maroon coloured husks.
