Sundial, Inveresk Lodge Garden, Musselburgh
A day out visiting National Trust for Scotland properties. We started off at Newhails, a 17th century home, with 18th century additions. Many of the original features still exist. It is being conserved, rather than restored. Well worth a visit to see the very unusual Library, and walk through the servants' tunnel.
A couple of miles down the road is Inveresk Lodge Garden. Built on a hillside, with a restored conservatory and aviary, and a wildlife meadow. This sundial, originally from Pitreavie Castle, is in the centre of the Garden.
Dinner with the family this evening, in the Grassmarket at the Petit Paris Restaurant. Many dining al fresco, on this warm summer's evening. There was certainly a buzz about the place, and ceilidh music starting up around 9 pm.
I am off to prepare myself for tomorrow's Blipmeet with Her Ladyship. We are meeting at a secret location ... if I can find it!
Finally, I am honoured that Rainie in New Zealand was inspired by my entry on Tuesday, and tried something similar with a 50mm lens she has on loan at the moment. This is what I love about Blipfoto, the international links that develop and how we can help each other to improve our skills.
