Through Jo's Lens

Mendips

Today I had a trip to Liverpool with my good friend, Cathy, who is up in the North visiting from London. We have both been Beatles fans since we were younger than I care to remember. I have to point out that we were both born in the 60s and weren't actually around in the Beatles hey day. Anyway, we have made many a trip to Liverpool in the past but today was ultra special because we got to go INSIDE Mendips (John Lennon's childhood home for all you ignoramuses out there) and 20 Forthlin Road (Paul's...ditto...). Both homes are owned by the National Trust so we had a proper informative tour and both homes have been transformed to how they would have looked when John and Paul lived in them. It was such a thrill for me to walk around their homes...fascinating, interesting and, for me, very moving. This pic is of the porch windows at Mendips. It's where John and Paul would occasionally practise the guitar and sing. Paul has since said that it has the best acoustics of any venue they ever played. I closed the front and inner doors and had a little sing in there! The tour guide said that we should do that!

As well as the thrill of visiting the homes of John & Paul, we also did lunch at the Albert Dock, went on the wheel there...don't really do heights but it was okay after the third rotation because that's when we got off!! Great views though!...and just had a great, girly, catch-up day out. Thanks Cathy and see you soon.
