The Highlands

The first time I saw a highland cow I thought they were the cutest things ever and all I wanted to do was pet one/see one up close. Today we went on a 12 1/2 hour long bus tour of the Highlands of Scotland and our first rest/breakfast stop brought us to a small store that had this little one, and her mama and papa outside. I didn't get to pet them, but it made me super happy to see them up close and I still think they're adorable! My professor was laughing at me because of how much I liked these animals. I wanted to buy a ton of Highland Cow souvenirs and a cow itself and bring it all home with me!

After our first stop, we made a couple of quick stops on the side of the road to take some pictures in front of the highlands of Scotland, like this one and then headed to lunch which was rather disappointing (the place made you pay 10 pence for a packet of ketchup--ridiculous if you ask me.). Then we headed to the Inverness to see the Loch Ness and Urquhart Castle. I was expecting the castle to be like the Edinburgh Castle, but instead it was falling apart. I really enjoyed it though because we got to climb around and take more prom pictures. After we took a boat trip on the Loch Ness. I thought they were going to make a big deal about looking for the Loch Ness monster, but instead it was just a boat ride from one end of the loch to another,so it wasn't that fun. On the way back to Edinburgh we made a quick rest stop for dinner.

Overall the trip was too much driving. We sat on a bus for 9 of the 12 1/2 hours. I'm glad I got to see more of Scotland other than Edinburgh (which I loved), but I'm still not sure that the trip was worth it. We got some nice pictures at least.
