Endings & New Beginnings...
...it's exciting times at Chez Kendrick...but then it's always exciting times here! We're (don't you just love how I've got include myself in all the excitement!) well Aidan is really, in the run down to the last few weeks at Primary School & he is MORE than ready for Secondary School, so much so I've I'm almost waiting for the call from his school wondering why he's gone to secondary school instead!
Parents of future students converged on Chichester High School for Boys to get a good feel of how their darling sprogs would be torutured...no sorry that should be 'taught' for the next how many years! We were provided with the bible for new parents & students with all the rules & regs, what a school week is going to look like etc...fascinating reading. I don't recall such attention to detail when I went to Secondary School at all!
What impressed me most was the concept of Vertical Tutor Groups, where students from each year group make up a tutor group & they work together each day. The school rightly described it like a family where people of different ages & skill sets have to work together to achieve & get results! I think this is a great concept so kids don't get stuck with the concept that life & the world revolves around them & their peer group.
Of course when going through all of this with Aidan his only thoughts was there a canteen & will I get fed? (He IS a boy!) & the excitment of taking the train to Chichester every day! *bangs head against a brick wall*
This photo is the school mantra...I liked it...wonder how it will go down with Aidan now I've plastered all over his bedrooom & will keep repeating it to him when he simply can't find his socks when they are right in front of him...or brush his teeth...or most importantly take a bloody shower before he stinks the place out ;o)
