Battle Axe!!
'Battling' Bessie Braddock was a Liverpool Labour MP between 1945 and 1970 and was responsible for introducing the quality standard 'Lion Mark' on British eggs in 1957. She was the anti-Edwina Currie (also a scouser of course!) in so many ways!
Prior to her election to Parliament she was a local councillor and, in 1930, famously took a two-foot megaphone into the council chamber to argue the case for action over slum conditions.
This statue was created by Tom Murphy (see here too) and can be found at the end of Platform 7 on Lime Street station. I was here today to catch the train down south to visit my mum.
