Lavender

Today's the day ....................... for a perfumed blip

Pot-pourri making became popular in Britain in the sixteenth century when spices for underlying fragrance and ingredients for fixing the scent became more widely available. The finished mixtures were kept in bowls. In small houses with high windows, damp, and beaten mud floors, they were essential for sweetening the air.

The sharper scented herbs such as lavender, rosemary and southernwood which were added to them also helped to keep away infection.
