Monarch Caterpillar
I went back to Belle Isle to continue my milkweed project. The marsh was ablaze with wildflowers, wish I could begin to describe them all. If I had the time, I'd love to do a nature blog...
Anyway. Two weeks since I've made it to the marsh and the milkweed is in full bloom now. I found a monarch caterpillar without even trying - just a small one, munching away... Found three in all. But where are all the butterflies? Seems like a really poor year for them. Eventually, I found one monarch clinging onto the underside of a milkweed flower. But one butterfly in a sea of wildflowers in a nature reserve seems like pretty poor return.
