Mutual Support!
Incredibly, after all the wind and then rain, that we've had over the last couple of days, the flowers in the front garden are still standing. They have several bamboo canes and yards of green hairy string helping them, but because they are so tightly packed they are also supporting each other.
I've been trying to garden in Orkney for 30+ years, but mostly on the top of a cliff! Now I am down at sea level it is so much more sheltered and it is possible to grow so many more types of plants. I used to have to concentrate on low growing of dwarf varieties of my favourite flowers, but now, as you see, we have Canterbury bells and full size lupins.
