There is a lot to be seen on this picture. But let me explain what we were doing here in the first place. We got a request from the Hermod if we could proceed to the T-3 rig to pick up one crewmember and bring him to the Hermod. And that is what you can see on this picture. The T-3 appreared to be, believe it or not, the Self Erecting Tender Assisted Drilling Rig. That is the flat top barge on the left also called RobRay T-3. Basically, it is a barge anchored out close to the platform where the actual drilling takes place, that is the yellow platform on the right. Personnel can easily board the platform via the big gangway between the barge and the platform. You also can see a lot of drillstrings stacked in the drilling tower of the platform. One by one they are drilled into the seafloor, connected to the next one afterwich the string is drilled one section deeper into the seafloor, and so on until the oil or gas reserves are reached.
