Living Museum

We're now staying with my niece and her husband and visited the Black Country Living Museum. They rescued numerous old buildings - houses, shops, industrial - and rebuilt them complete with authentic contents. Many local volunteers dress up as characters from the late 1800s - the Industrial Revolution - and demonstrate their jobs eg blacksmithing, embroidery etc or show the children how to play with old toys like skipping robes and hoops. Some old buses and trams drve round the site and there a ride on the old mining canal and a trip down a mine. Well worth a visit and easy to spend a whole day exploring it.
