Bryan and the Cream Legbar
Drove around the south west corner of Anglesey today and stopped for coffee at Bwthyn Cathod Duon (Black Cats Cottage) and chatted to Bryan the owner.
Originally from Lancashire, he and his wife set out to restore a delapidated cottage here and recently opened up for business selling coffees and teas. They keep chickens for a supply of eggs.
The chicken are somewhat unusual in that they get on very well with the four black cats and seem to spend a disproportionate amount of time cooling their feet and bellies in the stream that runs under the deck where I was drinking my coffee.
They also lay eggs whcih have a curious bluey hue to them. Called The Cream Legbar, they are now quite sought after by higher end chefs for their high yolk content and delicious flavour.
The nearest Waitrose, where Wills and Kate shop, sells them for over 3 pounds per half dozen.
Here, a somewhat sun exposed Bryan poses with several freshly-laid Cream Legbar eggs.
