Maruia Falls

We've had a fair bit of rain the last few days, so Kiwilizzie suggested we go out to the falls to see how they look. They are certainly looking interesting!

These falls were created by a slip in the 1929 earthquake. The slip blocked the river and caused it to flow over a different path across farmland and over a small bank - over the years the force of the river has increased the drop to the point that it is about 10 metres. Crazy people kayak over it.
