A Day Out
What a great day today was to get out. The boys and I were looking for something different but close by to do to keep us entertained. We've planned less camping trips this summer so it seems we've had more down time than we are used to. I came up with a few ideas of local activities then we made a call to grandma, my mom and decided to head out.
The weather was gorgeous. Our first stop was The Falls on the river near where we live. We've stopped here many times before but everything seemed so much more beautiful today with the blue sky reflecting into the normally gloomy water. After our scenic stop we headed out to our County Fairgrounds where we watched some members of the 4H show their horses and their riding skills. The boys had a blast watching and walking from stall to stall admiring the beauty of these large animals. After that it was lunch on the shaded deck at a local restaurant. It was relaxing and very enjoyable to sit and watch the happenings around town while we ate and took in the amazing weather we're having. Final stop of the day was a farm that normally we visit in the fall to pick out our pumpkins. Turns out they are open year round where you can enjoy a few of the activities (which normally they charge for during peak season) for free. The boys had fun playing in the "nut house", sliding and going on a nature walk. Grandma and I enjoyed admiring the gorgeous flower pots and fresh fruits and vegetables at the market. After a fun afternoon we sat and enjoyed dishes of Tillamook Ice Cream.
It truly was an enjoyable day. Everyone behaved so well (the boys have been on a naughty streak lately and very competitive with one another ) and the weather couldn't have been any better. I'm glad my mom was able to join us for the fun.
On a side note. Thank you all for your special comments and congratulations on my 100th blip yesterday. I was truly touched. This is such a great community to be part of.
