Maine morning

When you rise in the morning, give thanks for the light, for your life, for your strength. Give thanks for your food and for the joy of living. If you see no reason to give thanks, the fault lies in yourself.
Tecumseh

I got up at 5:30 and caught the tail end of the sunrise, never intending to stay up, but it was really too beautiful to crawl back into bed. Now at 8:15, the coffee smells good and the gulls are noisy over the river, but I feel a bitt sleepy still.

Max in the morning

Raspberry is watching Max on the stairs in the hallway in this image. The lovely old snowshoes were made for my grandmother (1893-1989) by a Passamaquoddy Chief, Joe Lola(1830-1900) of Perry Maine. My brother and I used them as children, then complete with their sealskin strip bindings, what were our parents thinking? They are cherished now and finally back in Maine.
