Cynic's Eye View

I was in the West End this morning to check out Habitat's closing-down sale (didn't buy anything) then went into Fraser's for a browse.
From the 3rd floor there is a wonderful view of Shandwick Place and the trafffic 'management' at the junction with Queensferry Street and Hope Street.
Only buses and taxis are allowed to use Shandwick Place, everyone else goes elsewhere.
Viewed in large the road markings and barriers indcate the number of different permutations of traffic direction there have been.
What do you mean, this council hates cars???
