Blue light at dawn

A few years ago when Fort Worth was flush with natural gas money, they commissioned Cliff Garten to design an Avenue of Lights on Lancaster Avenue. Our condo is on this avenue. Drawings were distributed showing lights towering over street as shoppers strolled by. So far there have been two big problems. The first was perspective of the sketches. The shops were three story buildings and the lights were at least as tall as the buildings. As it turned out, the lights are no taller than normal street lights. The second and maybe biggest problem is that no one has yet to begin building ANY shops. So the backdrop of the Avenue of Lights is weedy barren lots and paved parking lots. There is a plan in place to start building some time soon. But of course, when is soon and what exactly are they going to build?
