The church referred to on this plaque is the church that I blipped on Friday 15th.
The 'rising' only lasted 10 days but involved 40,000 protesters from Louth, Horncastle, Caistor and Market Rasen marching on Lincoln Cathedral.
The cause of the 'rising' was the suppression of the Catholic church by Henry viii, and was triggered by the arrival in Louth of John Heneage one of Cromwell's examiners who had come to 'visit' the church.
Although the 'rising' was unsuccessful and was brutally put down it was the precursor of the 'Pilgrimage of Grace' which started a few days later, led by Robert Aske which, at least initially, met with more success.
