swallowing fish

saw the big blue today... he was so focused on catching lunch, he let me get fairly close... i was doing the happy dance.

i stood... he stood...

i watched... he watched... for what seemed like forever!

finally... he struck - coming up with this fish in his mouth. he backed away from the shore... while i was snapping away - love the quickness of my new camera - and before i knew it, the fish was half-way down his throat. what totally amazes me is how the size of his neck grows... do you see that? of course, you can really see in person versus one picture... but it goes from this very long, slender neck to a wide neck - in order to accommodate the size of the fish... how incredible is that? it is such a god-thing, isn't it? the true beauty of nature... although i was sort of sad to see a fish swallowed whole.

no matter how much of nature i see every day, i never fail to be surprised or awed by little things like this... these simple moments make for a

happy day.....

p.s. so excited that so many of you knew what my birthday blip bird was yesterday... thanks! and apparently, i made the spotlight - but only for a nanosecond - 'cuz i missed it! boo.... but still made my day since hitting the spotlight never happens to me... yay!
