Oh, my ears and whiskers!

I realised that there were so many essential tasks to be done (some of them considerably overdue) that there was no time for it to feel like the weekend - except in that they were different things from the Proper Job, I suppose. A change has to be as good as a rest. DH had to do the lone hunter-gatherer thing at the farmers market.

Went through a week's unopened post, dealt with non-work emails, read some of the astrophysics I didn't get round to in the last fortnight, put new strings on the guitar for next weekend and even remembered how to play it to a certain extent. The voice seems to have recovered from colds and hayfever - it felt great to give it a good blast. Tomorrow I must attend to the banjo (fewer strings but more fiddly); with luck I'll even get time to visit the allotment!

From time to time during the day I heard the news from Norway getting steadily more and more grim.
