Countess Emma Of Lesum 2
Emma of Lesum(ca. 975-980 ? 3 December 1038) is the first female inhabitant of Bremen to be known by name. She was also popularely venerated as a saint for her good works and her feast day is the 3rd December.
The statue on the blip can be found at Bremen- Lesum where she died (next to St. Martini Church). She is buried at St. Peter's Cathedral in the centre of Bremen. When her tomb was opened, her body had crumbled to dust, with the exeption of the right hand- the hand she did her good deeds with...
She is much beloved in Bremen because she is said to have given quite a large piece of meadow land to the citizens in 1032.
