Spent a very pleasant day with my quilting group friends - talking, drinking tea and coffee, eating and also managing to fit in some quilting. Most of us make quilts for our families - kids and grandchildren or extended families and friends. We also make a couple of quilts for various charities each year but at the moment Jo and Leonie have been very, very busy and have made a lot of charity quilts which will soon be despatched. Some go to the Sydney Childrens Hospital where seriously ill children (and also their siblings) are each given a patchwork or applique quilt. We make the quilts to suit either young children, girls and boys, or teenagers and so we choose a pattern and fabric that is suitable for the particular age group and gender. I believe one of the doctors at the hospital photographs each quilt, puts it on her computer and stores the quilts in her garage. The kids then get to pick the quilt they like off the computer photo.
