An Old Airman's Life

Power to the people

During lunch today, I looked out the window and saw three protesters. Being a nosey as well as a good blipper, I had to go out with my camera to see what they were up to. Congressman Pete Sessions office is a block from office. As probably everyone in the world knows and is tired of hearing about, the US debt ceiling needs to be raised or somebody isn't going to get paid.

These folks were trying to convince drivers to call their congressperson and tell them that Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid should not go unpaid. I feel for the true aged person in poverty. It could come down to no check in the mail or maybe a partial one. It has been so long since I really, REALLY needed my paycheck on pay day, I have a harder time KNOWING what it will be like. I suspect that none of the players in Washington live paycheck to paycheck.

I don't know what the right answer is, but I suspect stiffing our old folks and veterans is not it.
