The Leith Police
After a day at the office I was heading to the chiropractor's for a bit of adjustment and thought that Leith's old Town Hall was looking very fine in the sunshine. Of course, when Leith stopped being a town in its own right (it got "absorbed" by Edinburgh although Leithers still ignore the fact), the town hall ceased to function as such and became the Leith Police station, fabled in verse!
It's a tongue twister, possibly designed to sort the drunk from the sober.
The Leith police dissmisseth us, I'm thankful sir to say,
The Leith Police dismisseth us, they thought we sought to stay.
The Leith Police dismisseth us, we both sighed sighs apiece
And the sighs we sighed as we waved goodbye, were the size of the Leith Police.
