Deformed buddleia
This post is about the profusion of buddleia on the Water of Leith, and anyone who thought it was about this has a dirty mind.
Hat tip to Mr A for spotting it.
One of the real pleasures of living where we do is direct access to the Water of Leith and the various North Edinburgh pathways. We didn't even realise this when we bought the flat. We took our regular Sunday morning wander today, although we realised we hadn't done so for ages. Doing this little potter made me notice how much progress my knees have made recently as at the height of the latest episode even this was beyond me as the pain was just too much. In addition to noting that many plants are in profusion this year, perhaps in response to the harsh winter, it was also interesting to see the progress of the flood prevention works above Bonnington bridge.
Plans to go further afield today were undermined by greater than normal (overpriced) wine consumption in the Spiegelgarden (George Square Gardens to you and me) to celebrate a friend's birthday after our respective concerts. Great vibe in the gardens and wonderful to be able to sit outside at midnight albeit under a patio heater.
Big up for our concert, though. Jef Neve on piano and Pascal Schumacher on vibraphone. Catch them if you can. Stunning. They weren't even supposed to be the headline artists but the headliners didn't turn up and we had to be 'content' with these two. Oh, how we were.
