A remote bothy

This morning the tent remained still, save for the tap tap tapping of the BILLIONS OF MIDGES at the door. I tucked my sleeves into my gloves, trousers into socks, midge net down my neck and broke camp.

Then walked north following the glens over bog and stream to pass over a Corbett (Faochaig - the whelk). Every time I stopped the midges attacked, when I walked, the clegs attacked. Although the views were stupendous, the constant nagging put a real dampener on the day.

I decided I couldn't do the tent again in these conditions so decided to stop at this wonderful bothy. It was so remote that the last entry in the visitor's book said "15th July 2010", except I think that was a mistake. There was no-one else there, just me, the midges and the clegs.

At least I could escape them when the door shut and I slept well.
