Nimbus

Here she is - starting to lose her winter coat already and it's still only 8 deg C! Nimbus is a typical traditional Orkney pony - a real mountain and moorland breed. She has come through the winter well, although the hay was very poor. She and the two Shetlands can survive on pretty poor grazing and get dangerously fat on good grass. They have been getting a bit of feed all winter and are now looking for the young green grass, like the rest of us!

I love the dapples on her summer coat - she's a very showy girl when the mood takes her, with a lovely light prancing step and high tail carriage. You might get a shot of it sometime, but meanwhile here she is just being a shaggy pony!
