All the kids were doing what they like best today. Naomi was off on the train to Edinburgh for shopping and a sleepover, Susie spent the whole day in the tender care of the Kayaking club, and Guy went off on his bike to play at a friend's house.

The benign neglect of my children has produced an unexpected pay-off.. they have learned how to use the washing machine..
