City of Traffic Lights
Spent the day out on site in Swansea today as we went through an external assessment, it was an extremely hot day with gorgeous blue skies and lovely cloud formations. I was tired when I got home though, I'm not used to being on my feet for that long but I'll put that right tomorrow when I'm back behind a desk for the day.
I took some shots of the sky today as there were some really good opportunities, but no today's blip is all about traffic lights. I counted the number of traffic lights I had to go through to get through the main part of Swansea, it was fifteen! And if you caught the first one on red it was the same all the way through; and we're only talking a couple of miles here. As one of my twitter followers pointed out the city planners must have had a few alcoholic beverages when they were planning it.
Personally I think the trouble with a lot of it, is that they haven't had a long term vision of Swansea. Building the SA1 development is great but if you're not careful there will be a lot of buildings and offices there, but the infrastructure won't cope, that's part of the problem. As you come into Swansea because superstores and shopping centres have been built ad hoc over the years; they've had to put in these junctions and traffic lights and now there is so much crammed into a small space, it's just not fit for purpose.
They're currently working on the entrance to Swansea, as shown in this blip; let's hope they can ease the congestion and problems. I love Swansea so I want them to make it better so that it can attract more investment.
That's my moan over for the day!
