Reedmace

This plant is (or was) called a Reedmace. It is now known as a Bulrush after a Victorian painter by the name of Sir Lawrence Alma-Tadema painted Moses in the Bulrushes but showed the baby in the reedmaces instead. As this painting was so well known, the plant eventually came to be known as a bulrush and the plant originally named bulrush is now known as a clubrush!
